PE Fun!

We do enjoy a good PE session where we practise our physical skills and use up some energy.

Today we were practising throwing and catching, particularly over arm throwing.

Some children felt that they needed a larger ball to begin with, but many managed to move on to, and accurately pass and receive, a tennis ball sized-ball!

We then applied our skills in a game of  'piggy in the middle'. During this activity we talked about 'sportsmanship' and the children complimented each other on their intercepting skills.

Art Galley

Thank you so much to our lovely parents for supporting their children by attending our art gallery.
This celebrated the end of our topic and created a real inspiration for learning.

We wrote researched artists to gather ideas, made masterpieces, wrote persuasive letters, made name / description cards and made non-fiction leaflets whilst working towards it.

Lots of super learning and some very proud children.

Bounce trip

What a fun and exciting day we have had!

We have enjoyed 3 super activities (table tennis, spring gymnastics and tennis outside) at the UEA Sportspark to launch our new topic 'Bounce'.

It was a very 'bouncy' all round and the children used many physical skills including; agility, balance, and coordination.

Maths Cafe

What a wonderful Maths Cafe we had in Year 2 today!

It was lovely to see the children sharing with their grown-ups how they represent number in different ways.

Thank you to those who left some lovely feedback, it is always nice to hear positive comments.

Recreating the work of famous artists

We looked at 4 famous pieces of artwork this week and worked collaboratively to recreate them.

Each child had a 'piece' of a painting to recreate and we put them all back together like a puzzle.

We learnt about colour mixing, blending, brush strokes, and how to develop texture.

The finished pieces look amazing!

Dance Showcase - proud teacher!

We are incredibly proud of our Year 2 children who took part in the Dance Showcase called 'Top of the Pops'.

They performed alongside 11 other schools in a show that was enjoyed by all.

We have had so many lovely comments including the one below (Thank you!):

'I just wanted to say a massive thank you to all of the staff involved in yesterday's Dance Showcase event at the Open.
My child absolutely loved the whole day and the first thing she said when she came out was that her t-shirt was right, it was the best day ever!
I think the school deserves credit for getting involved in something that has been so beneficial for the children - from learning the routines, to giving them the confidence to perform so brilliantly on stage in front of a big audience.
I certainly left feeling very proud, not only of my child but also of being part of the school.' - (Year 2 Parent)
